Join us for 5 days of spring hiking and
backpacking in the central section of Shenandoah National Park. We will
traverse a section of the Blue Ridge crest along the Appalachian Trail
between Swift Run Gap and Thornton Gap. Our first and final night accommodations
will be at Skyland Resort on Skyline Drive.
The "off season" is a good
time of year for this trip which meanders through the most widely used
part of the Park. This is a very scenic 35-mile section of trail
following the main crest of the
Blue Ridge. The pace will be leisurely allowing time to enjoy the
wonderful views from the many summits, rock
outcrops and overlooks along the way. There's options for side trips to
a waterfall or two as well. Expect spring conditions with
spring flowers emerging, leafless trees and no bugs.
Experience the
beauty of this park with a small group of outdoor enthusiasts.
Best for those with some backpacking experience though such is not
required. One should be in good
physical condition to enjoy the journey. Trip
is limited to 6 maximum group size. Estimated cost: ~$995
USD per person plus transportation to Luray, VA.
Package
includes 2-nights lodging based on double occupancy, all meals, fees, park permits and camping gear.
Singles accommodations may be available for an additional $250 USD per
person.
