Experience
5 days of spring hiking and backpacking along
the Appalachian Trail in
southwest Virginia. We will trek through Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area and Grayson
Highlands State Park. Our adventure will begin and end in Damascus,
"the friendliest town on the Appalachian Trail." Mt. Rogers is the highest point in Virginia
(5,729'). Grayson Highlands has been compared to the Montana grasslands
by many, with grassy balds speckled with magnificent rock outcroppings and plenty of blue
sky. There are also several herds of federal wild ponies in this
section, contributing to the uniqueness of this trip. Trip length is
about 35-40 miles and offers miles of spectacular views.
Should be an experienced backpacker in good
physical condition. Minimum
age 25. Trip is limited to
6 maximum group size. Estimated cost: ~$995
USD per person plus transportation to Damascus, VA. Package
includes 2-nights lodging based on double occupancy, all meals, fees, park permits and camping gear.
Singles accommodations may be available for an additional $250 USD per
