Raquette Falls Spring Backpack Trip (2-nights):
June 2-4, 2017 - WOMEN'S TRIP

This 3-day trip is good for beginners and those who just want to get away where it's quiet for a bit. The trip is planned as a moderate, leisurely paced hike to the Raquette Falls area with plenty of time to stop & smell the roses... okay, maybe the trillium. No mountains to climb on this trip, just a hill or two to walk up as we get nearer the falls. This trail is generally dry and with the late spring water levels, this is a good time to visit the falls. A variety of late spring and early summer flowers should line the trail. Lightweight backpacks, personal cook systems, camping gear (excluding sleeping bag) and trail meals are provided. Guests are welcomed to bring their own gear & meals if they prefer. We plan to meet at our home base location near Tupper Lake at 8:00 AM on Day 1. After packing we'll head off to the trailhead in Coreys (15-20 minute drive). We'll hike in approximately 4 miles with hopes of camping on a beautiful hemlock bank overlooking the Raquette River. We will set up camp for 2 nights. Day 2 we will hike to Raquette Falls exploring the area along the river between the Upper & Lower Falls. Then we'll head off to Dawson Pond, a little gem in itself. Day 3 we will enjoy breakfast and the quietness of the river before packing up to pack out to our vehicles. Expect to depart from our location mid-afternoon on Day 3. Space is limited to 6 people. Cost: $420/person. Click here to reserve a space for this trip.

Winding Falls Beginner's Backpack (2-nights):
June 9-11, 2017

This 3-day trip is good for beginners and is planned as an easy-moderate, leisurely paced trek along the Bog River and outlet of Round Lake in the Tupper Lake area. There are many cascades and waterfalls along the way to enjoy and photograph. Destinations for this excursion include Winding Falls on the Bog River, Round Lake in the Whitney Wilderness area, and Bog River Falls. The trail is generally dry and the higher water levels should make for some scenic water scenes. This is an area most familiar to locals so we do not expect to see others along the way. Lightweight backpacks, personal cook systems, camping gear (excluding sleeping bag) and trail meals are provided. Guests are welcomed to bring their own gear & meals if they prefer. We plan to meet at our home base location near Tupper Lake at 8:00 AM on Day 1. After packing we'll head off to the trailhead near Bog River Falls (10 minute drive). We'll hike in approximately 3.5 miles with plans to camping along the Bog River near Winding Falls. On Day 2 we plan to break camp after breakfast and head to Round Lake for the night enjoying the many waterfalls & cascades along the way. We'll explore the outlet of Round Lake and the remnants from the logging days of long ago when the lake and river were used to transport logs from the woods to the mill in Tupper Lake. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and our day will close with a beautiful sunset across Round Lake. After breakfast on Day 3 we will pack up and meander back to where we started. Before returning to our home base we will swing by beautiful Bog River Falls for another photo opportunity. Space is limited to 6 people. Cost: $420/person.
